From manuscript to journal-screening eligibility.

ACSS moves a manuscript through a defined, auditable screening sequence. Each stage has a clear actor and a clear meaning — and none of them substitutes for peer review or editorial acceptance.

The eleven stages

Progress flows from submission through screening, author response and revision, to completion, final authorship confirmation and journal-screening eligibility.

    ACSS Submitted

    Author

    The author submits a manuscript for scholarly screening with basic metadata (title and abstract).

  2. 2

    Administrative / Eligibility Check

    ACSS Coordinator

    The ACSS Coordinator performs a light administrative and eligibility check — completeness and fit — not a scholarly judgement.

  3. 3

    Screeners Assigned

    ACSS Coordinator

    The ACSS Coordinator assigns one or more ACSS Screeners to the manuscript.

  4. 4

    Screening in Progress

    ACSS Screener

    Assigned screeners review the manuscript for scholarly soundness, structure and readiness. This is screening, not peer review.

  5. 5

    Screening Reports Complete

    ACSS Coordinator

    All assigned screeners have submitted their screening reports for the current revision.

  6. 6

    Author Response Required

    Author

    The author is asked to respond to screening feedback and, where needed, revise the manuscript.

  7. 7

    ACSS Revision Submitted

    Author

    The author submits a revised manuscript and response to the screening feedback.

  8. 8

    Re-screening

    ACSS Screener

    Where required, the revised manuscript is re-screened before the screening conclusion is finalised.

  9. 9

    ACSS Complete

    ACSS Coordinator

    Screening concludes. ACSS Complete is a screening milestone only — it is not acceptance and not peer review.

  10. 10

    Final Authorship Confirmation

    Author

    The author confirms final authorship. This author-side gate must complete before journal-screening eligibility.

  11. 11

    Eligible for Journal Screening

    Journal Manager

    The manuscript is eligible to proceed into the normal journal screening and editorial workflow.

Transition to journal screening

Eligibility for journal screening is the end of ACSS — and the beginning of the normal journal workflow.

What happens next

  • Screening concludes and the author confirms final authorship.
  • The manuscript becomes eligible for journal screening.
  • The author proceeds into the normal GreyMind journal workflow — submission, editorial assessment and peer review — which remains the authoritative process.
  • At any point the author may instead take the manuscript to another venue.

What ACSS Complete does not mean

  • NOTAccepted by a journal
  • NOTPeer reviewed
  • NOTPublished as a journal article
